Most “Natural” Wood Finishes Aren’t What They Claim
Many finishes marketed as “natural” or “hard wax oils” still contain:
• petrochemical resins
• synthetic hardeners
• endocrine disrupting additives
• solvents that off gas into homes for years
Polyurethane and modern hardwax oils may look good initially, but they often seal the wood in plastic and introduce unnecessary chemicals into living spaces.
For furniture makers, homeowners, and families, this matters.
Especially when the furniture sits in dining rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.

Although I first discovered these oils while finishing bespoke furniture, they are used for many kinds of timber surfaces.

Despite its reputation in Europe, Livos has never been widely available in New Zealand.
After using these oils in my own workshop for a decade, I realised many woodworkers, architects and homeowners would value access to them.
Before importing a shipment, I want to understand how much interest there is.
If enough people are interested, I will bring the first supply into the country.
