The Commissioning Process

Some commissions begin with an existing piece from my work. Others begin with a room, a need, or an idea that needs shaping.

Each piece is made to order in my Kerikeri workshop. You may be enquiring about an existing Lloyd Brooke design in a different size or timber, or something more fully custom. Either way, the process is simple: understand the piece, understand the room, and choose the right path forward.

Before the Build

Enquiry
Send through the piece you are interested in, or describe what you are considering. Photos, rough dimensions and any relevant details are enough to begin.

Conversation
I’ll look at the room, the purpose of the piece, and whether an existing design, a variation, or a fuller custom design is the best path. For serious enquiries, this often happens over a short Google Meet.

Direction
Once the scope is clear, I can guide you through timber, sizing, timing and price. If a design phase is needed, I’ll explain this before any design work begins.

Making
Each piece is made by me using premium materials, careful joinery and my hand rubbed oil finish. I usually share progress photos or short updates as the work comes together.

Delivery
When the piece is complete, delivery is arranged according to the size and destination of the work.

Aftercare
I’ll provide simple care guidance so the piece can be lived with, maintained and kept in good condition over time.

You may already know the piece you are drawn to, or you may simply know that something in the room needs to be resolved.

Send through a few details, photos if you have them, and any work of mine that feels close to what you are after. From there I can suggest the most sensible next step.
