Description
The Parkins, a handcrafted long bench seat. Long bench seats require middle support to stop sag and this often interrupts the flow of the bench.
With the Parkins bench, it was decided to reveal the end grain of the middle leg and join it to the seat surface with Walnut splines. When viewed from above, the angle on the middle leg makes it “disappear” and you are left with a beautiful floating section of end grain.
The corner joints are handcut dovetails for beauty and further insurance against racking forces.For other bench seat solutions, see the Elaine bench.
