Description

The Tāhuhu audiophile rack is for those who treat listening as something intentional. Not background noise, but a ritual.

Each one is built in Kerikeri, Northland, using solid, locally grown Walnut sourced from the Bay of Plenty. The shelves carry a tapered fit, crisp bevels and a gentle curve. Small details, but they give the piece a sense of movement while still feeling grounded and composed.

Most audio racks make living with your system harder than it needs to be. Cables are awkward to reach. Components feel boxed in. Even simple changes become a chore.

The floating, cantilevered design of the Tāhuhu opens everything up. You’re reconnected with your gear. Access to cabling is easy. Components have space to breathe and cool naturally. Swapping out a cable, refining your setup, making incremental upgrades becomes part of the enjoyment again. It’s built for late night listening sessions, when the house is quiet and the details matter.

Each shelf sits on 100% Merino wool felt. Merino is a natural, sustainable material with excellent damping properties, converting vibrational energy into heat. Hidden reinforcement within the shelves allows each level to carry over 30kg without adding unnecessary visual weight.

The base and spine are cut from high grade 8mm Corten steel. The base alone is a very generous 8mm thick providing both mass and rigidity where it matters most. The steel reduces unwanted resonance transfer between components and floor via spiked, anti vibration feet, while the pairing of hardwood and steel brings warmth and density together with precision and control.

Tāhuhu is the Māori word for the ridgepole of a traditional wharenui, the backbone that holds everything together. This rack becomes the structural spine of your system. Steady and composed, letting the music do the talking.
