A closer look at Carran
Shaped by hand
I shape the legs into a flowing, sculptural form, with the end grain visible where each leg meets the top. Light and shadow pick out the changing contours as you move around the table.
The frame beneath
The X frame rail carries the curves beneath the tabletop, giving the structure a sculptural presence of its own.
Made by me, from start to finish
I personally design and build your table, from selecting the boards to the final finish.
A continuing craft tradition
The X frame rail design is inspired by my mentor, Evan Dunstone of Dunstone Design, who was in turn inspired and taught by David Maclaren of the Bungendore Woodworks Gallery.
The craft of woodworking is constantly evolving, and I’m forever grateful to the leaders in the craft who have paved the way for younger makers. Carran is my own expression of those influences, worked through in its curves, contours and proportions.
