Kohatu pairs a solid timber desk with fitted drawers and a carved inlay. It is a place for laptop work, reading, craft or quiet thought, with the texture carried through both pieces.

Texture across the set
Individual gouge strokes form the darker carved inlay on the desk and drawers, linking the two pieces.
Drawers fitted by hand
Hand cut dovetails join Rock Maple drawer sides. The drawers are fitted by hand and polished with wax for a smooth action.
Made by me, from start to finish
I personally design and make your piece in my Kerikeri workshop, from selecting the boards to the final finish.
The design of Kohatu
A custom desk for laptop work, for school, for reading, for craft, for puzzles… or daydreaming.
The darker inlay is carved with a small gouge, with every individual stroke contributing to the texture as a whole. Featured both in the drawers and the front of the desk, this makes for a complete set.
The joinery in both desk and drawers is a splined mitre in Blackwood.
The drawers are hand cut dovetails into Rock Maple sides, fitted by hand and polished with wax for a smooth action.Two options pictured here are American Oak and Blackwood. Other timber options are available.
