A continuous curved edge
The oval outline is sized around the room and the number of people you would like to seat.
Intarsia detail
I use intarsia to create the patterned timber detail on the pedestal. It follows the gown like form of the base, finishing above a small shadow gap.
Made by me, from start to finish
I personally design and build your table, from selecting the boards to the final finish.
Dressmaking in timber
Burton began with the extravagant dressmaking of the eighteenth century: the sweep of a gown, its weight and the way it falls towards the floor. I wanted to bring that sense of movement into a table, with a pedestal that has a character of its own.
The intarsia detail is part of that idea. The patterned timber follows the gown like form of the base, finishing just above the floor with a small shadow gap. That space underneath gives the substantial pedestal a lighter, almost floating appearance.
